The 26-year-old, Miss Universe 2015, Wurtzbach spoke to reporters backstage after the show, and opened up about the bizarre incident in which Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was accidentally crowned the winner by Steve Harvey.
“I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on,” said Wurtzbach upon hearing that she was the actual winner. “I didn’t expect that to happen at all. I had to ask my [manager] many times like, ‘Did I really win? Am I really Miss Universe? Are you going to take the crown from me now?’ And they [said], ‘No, no, you’re really the winner.”
According to latest reports, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez plans to sue Steve Harvey for five million dollars because he wrongfully announced another contender as the winner for 2015 miss universe.
“That mistake has put distress in my life, and i don’t think I’m ever going to be the same person again.” – says Miss Colombia.
“Miss Colombia will suffer psychological damage as a result of Steve Harvey‘s blunder” says the country’s Counsul General. “It was extremely painful for Miss Colombia and will likely cause long-term issues, it was not only psychological torture to have the crown taken away but physically traumatizing to have it removed.”
Many believes this blunder will affect Harvey’s career more than it will affect the pageant contestants’ fame.
