France, President Francois Hollande said the Islamic State was responsible for the attacks which have killed more than 200 people.
One terrorist yelled “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire in a crowded concert hall, and ISIL supporters use of the hashtag #باريس_تشتعل (Paris burns) to spread the news led many to conclude the attackers were Muslim.
Propaganda is the wheel by which the government steers the bus of a nation; typically driving it into war or off the cliff of humanity. Media paints Islam as a death cult bent on world domination. Over and over again the media show footage of the atrocities committed by fanatics or of Arab men burning American flags or Non-Muslim country flags. The problem, of course, is that this isn’t remotely representative of the Islamic population of the world.
According to reports more than 15,000 people have signed a petition to remove Muslims and make changes in Europe’s immigration policies to exclude Muslims.
When Muslims move into any country, a certain percentage of them start agitating for special considerations. They start to organize and influence the nation politically in a way that is good for Islam and bad for freedom and equality. When the percentage of the Muslims in a nation’s population becomes high enough, they gain so much political power that freedoms and rights begin to disappear- says John Woodwall an individual who signed a petition.
Some general facts about Islam might help break the noose of wartime propaganda that rests around Non-Muslim’s neck.
1. All [or most] Muslims are terrorists.
There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world. The much-discussed ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) organization, which has been described as the “biggest and richest terrorist group in the world” can only field 15,000 troops in its battle to create a fundamentalist homeland. The premise that all Muslims are terrorists falls flat by a mere study of the numbers. It isn’t even 1% of Muslims.
2. Muslims want Sharia law.
While many Muslims believe in Sharia law, what is considered Sharia law is not universal. 68% of Muslims don’t even believe it is the Word of God. Only 32% believe in making it the legal system for the country, and a majority of Muslims don’t believe Sharia law should apply to non-Muslims.
3. Muhammad was a pedophile and his wife was only 6 [or 7].
Aisha and Muhammad were married after she reached puberty. She was around 13 years old at the time of marriage, though she may have been betrothed to him much earlier. Americans need to keep in mind that while they might not have heard of Islam prior to September 11th, Muhammad lived in the early 600s A.D. It might surprise them to learn that marriage at such an early age was extremely common not only in the Arab world, but the Western world as well. King John of England married a 12-year-old around 1198. Romeo’s love, Juliet, was only 13.
American psyche is that somehow the United States must save the Muslims from themselves. The goal of this propaganda is to make Americans believe that Muslims are somehow lesser people.
Americans continue to live in mortal fear of radical Islam, a fear propagated and inflamed by right wing Islamophobes. On western media, it seems as if all terrorists are Muslims “Not all Muslims are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are Muslims.”
The moral of the story is that Americans ought to calm down when it comes to Islamic terrorism.
